The main purpose of our Shorts, Shorts & Shots is to encourage the production of and to celebrate new local short films and the filmmakers at a screening night specially created for them.

This edition we’re all about Afro-Futurism, where we blend African culture, tradition, and creativity with futuristic concepts like science, alternate realities and technology. The night will feature a showcase of dynamic short films from African filmmakers, each exploring stories of resilience that challenge and inspire.

Alongside the films, immerse yourself in the full Afro-futuristic experience where you get to wear your shorts, watch short films and take shots! (Alcoholic and non-alcoholic)

For those of you with short films in the pipeline, help is on the way! Every few months, we hold short film pitches and put production money on the table to make sure that all those scripts move from the page to the screen!

Shortlisted scripts that make it to the top will be invited to an intense day- long shorts workshop with mentors. The day will end with a pitch – and the winning film team will walk away with up to Ksh 250,000 to produce their short film. In addition, budding filmmakers in need of some help will receive some mentoring and production support from us too. And, of course, we will screen the film at “Shorts, Shorts, Shots” night once it is completed.

We have supported a total of 10 filmmakers, each with a grant of Ksh 250,000 as of March 2020. Stay up to date with our social media pages to hear about our next call for scripts.

A little girl sets out to keep her seedlings alive after both are uprooted from their home. Her estranged father, an confirmed bachelor, is not the obvious choice for a caregiver, but neither of them has any choice about that.

Saru (30) arrives home after a long day at work. She finds a mysterious package at her door. She takes it in and discovers that it is a gift from her late husband. It is a doll. As Saru prepares to sleep, she hears sounds in her house. She investigates. She is uneasy, then frightened, then terrified. She struggles to maintain her sanity when she sees things she cannot explain. A grieving young widow, haunted by the memory of her husband."

Keya is a young woman who is in denial of her blindness. She is forced to venture out into the outside world where she bumps into Anthony, a reclusive, struggling man. They embark on a journey to resolve their scars, handicaps and shortcomings.”

A strong willed girl decides to rescue her mother from a greedy and gluttonous pastor, but her mother wants to stay in the church which is starving her to death.

A surreal satire about two people of different race stuck in an elevator together.

In the near future, a depressed man with a learning disability resides in a community care home and uses a talking operating system designed to improve his IQ to find love.
