The MicroDocs Challenge was a collaborative initiative by Docubox, the International Documentary Association, Doc Society, In-Docs, and DocsMX.
The challenge invited emerging creators and storytellers to explore the theme of democracy through short-form video content shared on TikTok. Participants were encouraged to create and share short videos reflecting their perspectives on democracy, civic participation, and community voices using the hashtags #MicroDocChallenge and #Democracy.Running from February 15 to April 15, the initiative aimed to engage younger audiences in conversations around democratic values while experimenting with new digital storytelling formats. Participants tagged @docuboxfilms and @docorg for a chance to be selected among the top 20 creators, each receiving $250 in recognition of their work.Through this initiative, the partners sought to amplify creative voices, encourage civic dialogue, and explore how short-form storytelling can be used as a tool for social engagement and democratic participation.
