About the Project
The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) ran a campaign aimed at preventing violent extremism among vulnerable
youth in Kenya. As part of this initiative, Docubox and The Box produced four short fiction films addressing the issue through storytelling and
social impact.
The films — Not My Son, Coachez, The Good Child, and Nitajuaje — were used as tools to spark conversations on radicalization, youth
vulnerability, and the role of communities in preventing violent extremism. An additional film, Watu Wote, was licensed to support the campaign.
Through community and school screenings, as well as online premieres and discussions, the project engaged young people, educators, and
community leaders in conversations around prevention of violent extremism, reaching audiences both physically and online.
