Films for Good
About the Project
The Films for Good workshop was created in response to a widespread challenge in NGO storytelling across Africa: film productions about local social impact efforts are often handled by teams from outside the countries where these stories originate. Led by Docubox, the workshop aimed to bridge this gap by strengthening the capacity of local filmmakers to tell meaningful, community-driven stories.
The program provided participants with the skills to produce compelling short films for the social impact sector, while ensuring that narratives about communities are told by storytellers who deeply understand their context, culture, and lived experiences.
Through a combination of training, mentorship, and hands-on filmmaking sessions, Films for Good also encouraged NGOs and development organizations to partner with local creatives, helping to reinforce the regional film industry and enhance the authenticity of social impact storytelling.
