The G’old Runner focuses on the life of Peter Macharia, who started his athletic career in2011 and has faced a lot of challenges in his path. Athletics, especially marathons, is considered a young man’s sport. As a result, Peter’s friends discourage him from participating in the marathons alongside young men, claiming that he is embarrassing them. The documentary follows Peter’s rigorous preparation process for the marathon and the challenges that he faces during this stage. We get to see how his family and social support are and observe the dynamics of this given his unconventional career. In the process, we will see him in his day-to-day activities on his farm with his wife and his interaction with his age mates. How does he work towards improving his time and how can he get the success he deserves? For entry fees to marathons, Peter sells some of the produce from his farm. But times have changed and the rains are scarce and unpredictable. All he has is hope yet, marathons need more than just hope. They need money to travel to places, find accommodation, pay registration fees and buy new pairs of shoes. Peter is a dreamer. He wants to participate and run alongside the best in international races, especially the Masters Championship, which has people in his age category. The documentary explores pushing boundaries, going where he has not gone before, and doing what he has not done before with a goal to be an inspiration to everyone. This is a revelation of many possibilities. Will the world recognize Peter? Will his peers accept him and is age just a number?
