Miezi Kumi

Since the beginning of his conservation career, Zach has almost always worked around rhinos. In Ol Pejeta he is the head caregiver of the last two known northern white rhinos in the world.
Alongside Dylan, he documents his typical experiences around the two northern white rhinos and other caregivers when he is at Ol Pejeta for ten months in a year. The film shows Zach’s growing intimate relationship with the rhinos even with efforts in place to save the species from potential extinction. They form a bond where Najin in particular lays on grass with Zach and allow him into her world to see how she sleeps, lives, and eats. Najin is eldest of the two females.
Zach describes the effect of the mentorship-like relationship Najin provides him, teaching him a lesson on the fragility of life and humanity’s connection with nature. This reflects to Zach creating a deeper bond with his family.
