Get Reel
About the Project
Get Reel is a Docubox filmmaking and impact program that uses storytelling to advance conversations around Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Justice (SRHRJ).
The program supported filmmakers from across East Africa through story development labs, production grants, and post-production support to create eight short films—comprising three short documentaries and five short fiction films.
These films explored themes including youth rights, gender justice, identity, and access to information. Following production, the films were shared through screenings in schools, communities, conferences, cinemas, and on broadcast platforms.
The program reached over 4,000 audience members through in-person screenings and more than 3 million viewers through digital and broadcast distribution. It also garnered multiple nominations and awards at international film festivals.
