Follow the Leader

Follow the Leader is a Docubox narrative change program designed to promote civic engagement, democratic participation, and inclusive leadership in Kenya.
Supported by Luminate, the program collaborated with filmmakers to develop stories that explore governance, youth participation, women in leadership, and the voices of marginalized communities.
The initiative supported five filmmakers—two short fiction filmmakers, two short documentary filmmakers, and one feature documentary filmmaker—through story development workshops, production grants, and post-production mentorship.
Through impact screenings held in schools, communities, and festivals across eight counties in Kenya, the films reached over 8,300 audience members and sparked meaningful conversations around leadership, accountability, democracy, and civic participation.
