Art of Order

About the Project

Art of Order is a cultural initiative by ALN Academy in partnership with Docubox that explores justice, governance, and the rule of law through art, film, and public dialogue.
The initiative uses documentary cinema, visual storytelling, performance, and civic conversation to reimagine the rule of law as a lived and cultural experience across African societies. Through curated screenings, exhibitions, and discussions, Art of Order creates space for artists, filmmakers, legal practitioners, and communities to reflect on how law shapes memory, identity, power, and public life.
Each programming cycle is anchored around a documentary film that raises urgent questions about justice and governance on the continent. Featured works include films such as How to Build a Library, The Battle for Laikipia, and Our Land, Our Freedom, which explore themes including public memory, land rights, historical accountability, and cultural heritage.
Through quarterly screenings, public dialogues, and visual justice briefs, Art of Order builds a platform where creative expression and legal thought intersect. The initiative seeks to make conversations about justice more accessible, emotionally resonant, and grounded in the lived experiences of African communities.
By bringing together filmmakers, artists, lawyers, policymakers, and audiences, Art of Order contributes to a growing movement that sees storytelling as a powerful tool for civic reflection, legal imagination, and democratic dialogue across Africa.
